Global Accessibility Awareness Day

In line with our commitment to sustainability and our goals, we strive to:

  • Valuing ethnic, cultural, and gender diversity
  • Promoting positive and inclusive change for everyone

For this reason, we are proud to participate in Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), a day dedicated to raising awareness about digital accessibility.

What is Digital Accessibility?

Digital accessibility means ensuring that people with disabilities or limitations can independently access and interact with digital content (such as websites, mobile apps, and online documents) without barriers.

Common types of Disabilities and Impairments

(hover or click the icons to know more)

Visual

Visual

People who are blind rely on screen readers and keyboard navigation. Descriptive alternative text for images is essential.

Hearing

Hearing

Individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing benefit from captions in videos and visual cues to replace audio alerts.

Motor

Motor

People with motor impairments may use adaptive tools like alternative keyboards, eye tracking, or voice commands to navigate digital interfaces.

Cognitive

Cognitive

An uncluttered screen, consistent navigation and the use of plain language would be useful for people with different learning disabilities/impairments.

What does it mean to promote Digital Accessibility?

Promoting digital accessibility means adopting practices, tools, and strategies to ensure that everyone, regardless of physical, sensory, or cognitive ability, can use digital products and services.

In practice, this includes:

  • Designing with empathy, considering users with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive disabilities
  • Writing clear, structured content in plain language
  • Supporting inclusive technologies, such as screen readers, alternative keyboards, and voice input
  • Ensuring keyboard navigation for those who cannot use a mouse
  • Providing text alternatives for images, videos, and multimedia content
  • Ensuring good visual contrast, which is also useful for those with color blindness or visual difficulties
  • Testing the user experience using verification tools and collecting meaningful feedback

Why is promoting Digital Accessibility beneficial for everyone?

Creating accessible digital experiences doesn’t just support people with disabilities. It improves the experience for all users. Here’s how:

  • Inclusion: An accessible site works better for everyone
  • Improved user experience (UX): Clear content and easier navigation help users on mobile devices, with slow internet connections, or in challenging environments
  • Better SEO: Accessible websites are easier for search engines to interpret
  • Legal compliance: Accessibility is mandatory for public entities and increasingly required in the private sector
  • Social responsibility: It demonstrates a commitment to ethics, innovation, and inclusion
  • Expanded reach: About 15% of the world’s population lives with a disability. Accessibility opens the door to millions of potential users

What is our commitment?

We believe that digital accessibility is a shared responsibility, and we are taking action.

  1. Creating accessible e-learning content, newsletter and intranet pages
As knowledge designers and learning content creators, we are committed to creating increasingly accessible and inclusive content, integrating these themes consistently and consciously into every project.
  2. Improving our website accessibility
We regularly assess our site to identify and fix accessibility issues. Recent improvements include:
    • Introducing alternative texts for images
    • Removing empty links and buttons
    • Improving text contrast issues
    • Adjusting headings hierarchy to be semantically correct
We have also introduced an accessible toolbar on our site, which allows users to:
    • Enlarge text
    • Switch to a more readable font (including a dyslexia-friendly option)
    • Customize color settings (contrast, brightness, grayscale, etc.)
    • Highlight links
    • And other useful functions that we invite you to test on tmpks.com
