July 22 marks World Brain Day, and perhaps it’s worth taking a moment to reflect on a simple question:
How well do we take care of the tool we use most every day at work?
At TMPKS, learning and people development programs are at the core of what we do. They are our daily focus and our bread and butter.
We know that well-designed learning and development processes provide a significant competitive advantage for organizations. What is sometimes less obvious is that they also represent an enormous benefit for individuals.
Training is not only about acquiring new skills or increasing productivity. It is about exercising the brain, keeping it curious, adaptable, and open to change. And a brain that continues to learn is often a brain that feels and functions better.
It is no coincidence that companies investing in continuous learning report higher employee engagement, improved productivity, and a stronger sense of personal effectiveness among their people. The more we learn, the more capable we feel of influencing reality around us. And that fundamentally changes how we approach work, challenges, and relationships.
But training alone is not enough.
On this special day, we invite you to take a quick self-assessment. Answer each of the following questions honestly:
Have I learned something new this week?
Have I had moments of uninterrupted focus?
Am I giving my body the nutrition it needs to sustain energy and concentration?
Do I generally wake up feeling well-rested?
Have I taken real breaks during my working day?
Have I engaged in physical activity over the past few days?
Do I generally feel calm and in control of situations?
Do my relationships give me more energy than they take away?
Do I feel engaged and motivated in my work?
There is no need to share your score. The value lies simply in taking a moment to reflect on your answers.
If your brain were a colleague, would your answers suggest that you are helping it perform at its best… or that you have been asking too much of it for too long?
Because if we want organizations capable of innovating, collaborating, and growing, we must remember that everything starts there: with those 1.3 kilograms that drive every decision, every insight, and every learning experience.
